For power users running Claude Desktop locally. The Connector flow above is the recommended path for most agents — faster to set up, no local install, identical core toolset.
Most agents should use the Connector flow.
If you're not sure, set it up in 60 seconds at /install/claude. Come back here only if you specifically want the desktop install path.
Before you start: Both DXT and CLI install paths require an Ace Pro seat ($55/mo). If you haven't yet, sign up free — your admin connects FUB once and your whole team gets free Ace accounts. Then ask your admin to upgrade your seat to Pro (takes a minute).
Two install options
Option A · DXT
Install the DXT with a signed token.
The DXT is a thin local proxy to the production connector. It does not ask for your Follow Up Boss password and it does not embed a FUB API key.
Open Follow Up Ace Settings → Integrations → MCP. Generate a revocable signed MCP token and download followupace-crm-v1.2.0.dxt.
Install the file from Claude Desktop Settings → Extensions and review its network and CRM-data permissions.
Paste the token into FollowUpAce MCP Token. Leave MCP Server URL at https://followupace.com/api/mcp.
Keep the token out of chats, screenshots, tickets, and URLs. Revoke it from Ace settings if the device is lost or shared.
Two steps: register the server, then sign in. Run these in any terminal where the Claude Code CLI is installed — this adds Ace to Claude Code, which keeps its own server list separate from Claude Desktop.
Register the server:

Authenticate — registering alone is not enough, and the server will read Needs authentication until you do this. Run /mcp inside Claude Code, select followupace, and complete the browser sign-in prompt.
Enter the email address on your Ace seat — the one your Follow Up Boss admin assigned it to. The 6-digit verification code is emailed to whichever address you type, so it has to be the seat address or no code is sent.
Tools advertised on the connector, scoped to your role.
Both install paths on this page reach the same production connector that Claude.ai and ChatGPT use — the DXT extension is a thin proxy to it, and the CLI registers it over HTTP. Installing on the desktop does not get you a larger tool set. You receive a subset scoped to your Follow Up Boss role: 189 for an admin who also holds a seat, 170 for an individual agent seat, 161 for an admin with no seat. Every FUB-aware tool, CRO aggregation, FRED economic data and Zillow workflow tool is there, plus the premium AI layer (per-user agent memory, per-contact memory, Ace Trove reads, compliance scanner, knowledge graph, predictive prompts, daily brief). (Follow Up Boss does not permit programmatic email/SMS send — the agent always sends from Follow Up Boss themselves.)
Note. This path is currently positioned as Advanced. The Connector flow is recommended for most users — set it up at /install/claude. Claude Desktop install is unsigned and unpublished today; you'll get OS warnings on first launch.
