Autopilot SMS: Texting Through Your Lead Engage Subscription

Ace itself never sends a text message. Teams that hold their own Lead Engage subscription can turn on the Autopilot SMS bridge: Ace composes each message for the specific contact and lays the schedule directly into Follow Up Boss, and your Lead Engage subscription picks it up and delivers the text from your own number.

Setting it up

1. Open Autopilot in the admin dashboard and find the Autopilot SMS card.
2. Check the attestation — you're confirming this account holds an active Lead Engage subscription and that its texting number and carrier compliance are managed there. There is no API integration to configure and no data leaves Ace — only the finished message does.
3. That's it. Eligible Autopilot touches (new-lead first touch, resurfacing) ride SMS for contacts with a textable phone number; everyone else gets email.

What every text carries

• The first text to any contact identifies the agent by name and includes “Reply STOP to opt out.”
• Every message carries the AI-assistance disclosure and passes the same Fair-Housing compliance scan as everything else Ace writes.
• Messages respect the recipient's local texting hours — Autopilot won't schedule a text outside them.

Opt-outs and handoffs work in both directions

When a contact replies, Autopilot stops and hands the conversation to the assigned agent — and also cancels any texts still queued on the Lead Engage side, so the agent inherits a clean thread. When a contact opts out (a STOP reply, an opt-out tag, an unsubscribe), Autopilot stops entirely and tells Lead Engage to stand down on that contact too. A texting opt-out is never quietly rerouted to email.

It also respects Lead Engage's own signals: a contact their platform has marked do-not-text falls back to email, a contact their AI assistant is actively working is left entirely alone (two automations never work one person), and a contact recorded as not interested is not re-prosecuted.

Without Lead Engage

Autopilot simply rides email — sent from each agent's own connected Gmail. Nothing else changes: same playbooks, same drafts-first default, same handoff. See Ace Autopilot: Autonomous Follow-Up, Drafts-First.
