Ace Relay: How Ace Sends Email for You (and How Unsubscribes Work)

Updated October 14, 2026

Ace Relay is where Ace’s communication rails live: how email goes out for you, what lands in Follow Up Boss, and what’s coming for texting and calling. Email is live today. Texting and calling are coming soon — the Ace Relay page lets you register interest, and nothing sends.

Where to find it

  • Agents: in the Companion, open My Tools → Ace Relay.
  • Admins: the Ace Relay row in the left menu, right under Dashboard (visible to the account owner and admins). It shows how many seats have connected their email and flags any that need to reconnect. It is available on every account, with or without Ace Trove.

How an email gets sent

Ace drafts; you review; Ace sends only after you confirm. Which button you see depends on your seat:

Your situationWhat happens
Gmail connectedSend now — from your Gmail. The email goes out from your own address. See Connecting Your Gmail to Ace.
Ace Pro, Gmail not connectedSend now — via Ace Relay. The email goes from “your name <Ace’s relay address>” and replies come to your own inbox. The draft card shows the exact From address and where replies go before you send.
Ace or Free, Gmail not connectedNothing is sent. Connect Gmail, or move to Ace Pro, to send from Ace.

You can choose which one sends in the Companion under Settings → Sending & calling → Emails: Best available (the default), My Gmail, Ace Relay sends it (Pro), or Copy & open FUB. Every message gets a final compliance check before it goes out.

What lands in Follow Up Boss

Mail sent from your own Gmail is picked up by Follow Up Boss’s own email sync. Mail sent through Ace Relay comes from an address Follow Up Boss doesn’t sync, so Ace writes it onto the contact itself as a note titled Email sent: <subject>, with who it went to, who it was sent as, which address delivered it, and the full text. If Ace ever can’t write that record, it raises an alert instead of failing silently.

Ace Relay email series — tag a contact Ace Relay in Follow Up Boss and a multi-step sequence runs — are still coming soon; joining the waitlist from the Dashboard only records interest. The unsubscribe link built for them is already live, and works like this:

  • Every series email ends with “Don’t want these emails? Unsubscribe.” (and your business postal address when one is on file).
  • The link opens a page that asks Stop getting these emails? Nothing happens yet.
  • Only pressing the Unsubscribe button opts the person out: their address is suppressed, the series ends, and the unsubscribe is recorded in Follow Up Boss.

It takes two steps on purpose. Email scanners and corporate mail gateways open every link in a message, and the earlier one-step link could unsubscribe a lead the moment their mail was delivered. If a series ever ended with the reason “unsubscribe-link” before October 2026, confirm with the contact before treating them as opted out.

One-to-one emails you send with Send now are your own message to one person, so they don’t carry a series footer — the contact simply replies to you.
