The Ace Chrome Bridge Has Been Retired (What Ace Can and Cannot Read)

What changed
The Ace Chrome Bridge was a Chrome extension that read the calls, texts, and emails displayed on your screen in Follow Up Boss and synced them to your Ace account, so Ace could reason about the actual words in a conversation. It has been retired. Ace now reads Follow Up Boss through its official public API only.
Why we retired it
Two reasons, and we would rather state them plainly than dress them up.
- Follow Up Boss deliberately does not expose message content through its API. Reading it out of the page was a way around that decision. Follow Up Boss's Acceptable Use Policy — which you agree to as their customer — prohibits using an automated tool to copy content out of the Follow Up Boss interface. We are not willing to build something that puts your Follow Up Boss account at risk, however useful it would be.
- It made us the custodian of other people's private conversations. A duplicate copy of your clients' texts, emails, and call transcripts sitting on our servers carries real obligations to those clients — retention limits, deletion rights, security duties — that are heavier than the feature was worth.
The extension was an experiment and was never part of any paid plan, so no plan lost a capability it was sold.
What Ace can read (this is most of it)
Everything below comes through the official Follow Up Boss API and is unchanged:
- Notes — in full. Every word you write in a note, Ace reads.
- Contacts and their fields — stage, source, tags, assigned agent, price range, custom fields, relationships.
- Activity metadata — that a call happened, who made it, when, how long, the outcome; that a text was sent, in which direction, when; that an email was sent or opened.
- The single most recent text on a contact's record — when Follow Up Boss includes it, Ace can read that one last inbound or outbound text body.
- Deals and pipelines — stage, value, dates, owner, movement history.
- Tasks, appointments, and their outcomes.
- Website and IDX events — property views, saved searches, inquiries, registrations, with addresses and prices.
That is what every Ace score, alert, and recommendation has always been built on. None of it changed.
What Ace cannot read
- Call recordings and call transcripts
- Text message history beyond that single most recent text (older texts in the thread, either direction)
- Email bodies and subjects of past emails
This applies on every plan, including Ace Pro and accounts with the Ace Trove add-on. It is not a setting, an upgrade, or a reconnect — it is what the Follow Up Boss API provides. If Ace ever tells you otherwise, that is a bug worth reporting.
The habit that closes the gap
Write a two-line note after a call. Notes are the one channel where your own words reach Ace in full, and they are read by everything downstream — the contact brief, the next-action suggestion, the daily brief, the drafts Ace writes for you. An agent who notes "wants 3br under 600k, pre-approved with Sarah at Union, kids start school in Sept" gets dramatically better output than one who does not, because that is the difference between Ace inferring and Ace knowing.
Ace is also built to be honest about this blind spot: it distinguishes "not recorded in Follow Up Boss" from "did not happen," and it will tell you when a conclusion depends on an email or text it cannot see rather than asserting it.
Do I need to do anything?
No. If the extension is still installed it simply stops capturing; you can remove it from Chrome's extensions page whenever it is convenient. Your Ace account, seats, billing, scores, and every other feature are unaffected.
Will something like this come back?
Only through the front door. If Follow Up Boss makes message content available to partners — or agrees to a data-access partnership with us — we would build on that. We will not ship another workaround.
