You need an active Ace Pro subscription ($55/month), a ChatGPT Plus or Teams subscription from OpenAI, and a Follow Up Boss account. ChatGPT supports MCP connections through its Connected Tools feature in the desktop and web applications. Make sure you can log in to ChatGPT and your Ace dashboard before starting. The entire setup process takes approximately 3-5 minutes.
Log in to your Ace Pro dashboard and navigate to the MCP Connection page. You will see your personal MCP endpoint URL — it follows the format https://followupace.com/sse/ with your unique authentication token appended. This URL is specific to your account and should be treated like a password — do not share it publicly. Click the copy button to copy the full URL to your clipboard. The URL includes a JWT token that authenticates your ChatGPT session with your Follow Up Boss account.
In ChatGPT, go to Settings, then Connected Tools (or MCP Connections, depending on your version). Click Add Connection and paste your Ace endpoint URL. ChatGPT will probe the endpoint and discover all 200+ available tools automatically. You will see a list of tool categories — contacts, deals, tasks, email, market data, and more. Accept the connection to enable ChatGPT to use these tools in your conversations. The tools are now available in all new ChatGPT conversations — you do not need to activate them for each chat.
Start a new ChatGPT conversation and ask: 'Show me my 5 most recent leads in Follow Up Boss.' ChatGPT should query your CRM and return real contact data. If it works, try progressively more complex queries: 'Which of my contacts have the highest engagement scores?' or 'Draft a follow-up email for my most recent Zillow lead based on their search history.' ChatGPT will select the appropriate tools from the 200+ available based on your natural language request. You do not need to specify which tools to use.
Both platforms access the same 200+ Ace MCP tools and produce equivalent results for CRM operations. Claude Desktop offers the DXT extension for slightly simpler setup and tends to be more methodical with multi-step tool chains. ChatGPT may feel more familiar if you already use it daily and offers the advantage of working in the web browser without a separate desktop application. Many agents try both and settle on whichever feels more natural for their workflow. Your Ace Pro subscription covers both — you are not choosing one permanently.
You need ChatGPT Plus ($20/month) or ChatGPT Teams for MCP tool connections. The free version of ChatGPT does not support connected tools. This is an OpenAI requirement, not an Ace limitation. The total cost is ChatGPT Plus ($20) plus Ace Pro ($55) = $75/month for full AI-powered CRM management through ChatGPT.
Yes. Your Ace Pro subscription supports simultaneous connections from Claude Desktop (via DXT) and ChatGPT (via endpoint URL). Both access the same Follow Up Boss data through the same MCP server. You can use Claude at your desk and ChatGPT on your phone, or switch between them based on preference.
MCP connections can occasionally time out after extended inactivity. If ChatGPT reports it cannot reach your CRM, try starting a new conversation. If the issue persists, regenerate your endpoint URL from the Ace dashboard and update the connection in ChatGPT settings. Token regeneration takes 30 seconds and the previous token is immediately invalidated for security.
